Gavin Construction is an innovative construction company operating in the commercial and industrial sectors of QLD and WA. Gavin are known for specialising in the completion of prestigious commercial construction projects from design through to hand over, managing all aspects of the commercial construction process. We are now looking for an experienced OHS Officer to join our team in our offices located south of the river. This role will also require some occasional site visits. Reporting to the Construction Manager the responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to; Assisting with the preparation of project management plans (safety, environmental & emergency) ; Developing operational OH&S documentation; Conduct Incident/Accident investigations in conjunction with site staff; Provide professional OH&S advice to site personnel; Assist with internal audits; Liaise with subcontractors to ensure they comply with OHS requirements; Liaise with other stakeholders (Union personnel, WorkSafe, Government Authorities, WorkCover, Adjacent tenants/owners); Assist with the management of WorkCover claims when required ; Conduct site inspections (safety and environmental) and address non-conformances; Attend Safety Committee and Toolbox Meetings; Maintain relevant registers (Induction, Plant, Lifting Gear etc); Liaise with Project Management team and with Suppliers, Subcontractors and stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this role will have tertiary qualifications on OH&S and up to 5 years experience within the commercial construction industry. Graduate applicants will be considered. Knowledge of applicable legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards will be beneficial. You will also need to understand Risk Management, have strong organisational and good communication skills are essential!
