New Sports Pavilion

Prominent design feature
Using the surrounding environment and adjacent historic buildings for inspiration, this pavilion has been designed to integrate within the grounds of Guildford Grammar.

Ground Floor of the building has dressing and coaching facilities for two sporting teams, and separate facilities for officials.

The Upper Floor contains function facilities for 200, together with a commercial kitchen which doubles as a kiosk during sporting activities.

The building is located on the embankment of the adjacent sporting ground, and full perimeter verandah on the upper level as spectator viewing when a game is in progress. Oversized verandahs on the upper level protect from both rain and heat, ensuring spectator comfort in all weather conditions.

Construction features
To integrate with the surrounding environment and the existing historic buildings, clay brick and zincalume have been used in this structure. Timber batten linings to the upper level verandas will provide a strong link with some of the original buildings at the school.

Internal features
The internal finish of the change rooms have been designed and finished to minimise long term maintenance issues and the reception facilities are designed to provide a warm and inviting area for both formal dining and informal gatherings, with all necessary amenities included.

Both forms of function can be catered for within the building or under the verandahs in appropriate conditions.
